3-4 trimesters
NZ's first and only national qualification in public policy, this degree provides a multi-disciplinary approach to policy analysis, drawing on key theories and frameworks from politics, political philosophy, economics and law. It develops analytical skills, the ability to frame and evaluate strategic policy choices, and introduces public policy processes and public management issues. A wide range of elective and specialist papers is offered. The programme concludes with independent research in the form of a research paper (or thesis), research project(s) and/or an internship in a public sector agency.
