• Bus
  There are many buses from around the North Island that run to Wellington - but arriving by bus is most popular if you are traveling from the smaller nearby places. Buses are very affordable and offer a relaxed, clean and flexible way to get to Wellington. Close
• Car
  Wellington is the most southern point of the North Island, so arriving by car is as easy as driving 'down' the North Island. Wellington has good motorway infrastructure making it fast to enter and exit by car. Close
• Domestic Flight
  Wellington Airport is close to the center of New Zealand, making flying an affordable, fast way to get to Wellington. It is a one hour flight to Auckland, and only a little more than that to other main centres, like Christchurch and Dunedin. Close
• Rail
  KiwiRail operates two train services which brings people from around New Zealand to Wellington. Their Overlander service runs daily from Auckland, and their Coastal Pacific service runs from Christchurch in the South Island (vie the Ferry) to Wellington. Trains are a relaxed, affordable and convenient way to travel to Wellington from around New Zealand. Close
• Boat
  Wellington is a coastal city and is the connection point for ferries running between New Zealand's North and South islands. In as little as 3-4 hours you can arrive in Wellington from Picton, which is at the top of the South Island. Ferries run several times day, offer breathtaking scenery and offer easy connections with other transport options onshore at each end. Close
• International Flight
  There are many airlines offering flights directly to and from Wellington International Airport, or via a connecting flight from Auckland. For those airlines that don't fly directly into Wellington, the connecting flights from Auckland of Christchurch have around an hour flight-time. Close

• Bus
  Taking the bus is a great way to get around Wellington. Buses run to every part of the city and Wellington was the first in New Zealand to offer pre-paid contact-less payment cards, known as Snapper cards. Wellington has a small geographic size, so you can move very quickly about the city using busses. Close
• Bicycle
  Being a reasonably hilly city, cycling won't suit everyone in Wellington. If you live/study on the flat then cycling is very feasible, and if you live in a more hilly area and want the exercise, then cycling can still be a great option because you never need to travel far. Close
• Walk
  Because of it's size, many students simply walk around Wellington. Walking in from the suburbs won't take long, and the CBD and waterfront area is very well set-up for walking. Close
• Boat
  Not many people in Wellington can commute by boat, but for those who live in the beautiful areas of Eastbourne, there is the option to avoid the roads and take a small ferry across the harbor into the CBD. Close
• Car
  Many students own cars in Wellington. Owning a car not essential but students living or traveling outside of the CBD often appreciate the flexibility of driving. There are a range of parking options available to suit different budgets and needs. Close
• Rail
  Wellington has a very busy train network and train station in the CBD. Each day thousands of people take a train into and out of the city in from the northern suburbs. Wellington commuter trains are very affordable and have run many times a day to each location. Close
• Taxi
  There are many taxis in Wellington. A short taxi ride within the CBD could cost approximately NZ$10; and around NZ$30-50 between the CBD and airport. Close
