Christchurch is the main centre of the Canterbury region, an elegant old city close to the Southern Alps.
Rangiora High School is a unique school. It is nearly 125 years old and has the tradition of excellence, with modern facilities. It also has a farm and riding academy attached to the school. The school offers a wide range of subjects as well as agriculture, equestrain, animal care and horticulture. It has a repuation for sporting success in rugby, basketball, football and volleyball. It also offers a wide range of other sports. In 2008 Rangiora High school won the stage Challenge as well as Rock Quest and the Equestrian team won the riding dressage events.
The school offers Adventure Education to International students. This covers a wide range of outdoor activities and also away trips throughout the year.
The school is located only 30 minutes from the main city of Christchurch and has a large township which supplies all students' needs, such as take aways, banks, cafes, departments stores etc. It has a direct bus service into the city.
