The College prides itself on its commitment to the city of Wellington and the range of activities that its students are involved in.
Location and Facilities
The College is located in Kilbirnie, is only 5 minutes from Wellington Airport, and 7 minutes from the central city. It has easy access to a wide range of sporting and recreational facilities. The Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre is at our front door.
Some classrooms have beautiful views of the Evans Bay Marina. The school has:

Academic Programme
The College offers a wide variety of subjects in the senior school (Years 11 to 13) where the emphasis is on each student achieving his potential and attaining nationally recognised qualifications. A close relationship with St Catherine's College (a girls college close by) allows senior students access to a greater variety of academic options (including Chinese) and cultural activities. In the junior school ( Years 9 & 10) the College strives to ensure that all have a solid grounding in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology and Physical Education. The junior school also has a variety of option classes, Music, Art, Maori, French and Japanese.
Activities Outside the Classroom
The College has a proud sporting tradition and has achieved notable successes over the years. Our first XI soccer team is currently the Premier 1 champions. Many other sports are offered. Every effort is made to cater for all students wishing to play a sport, irrespective of their ability.
Considerable emphasis is placed on involvement in cultural activities with the choir, barbershop quartets, public speaking, and drama. The St Patrick's college choir came first in the National Choral festival this year.
Free music lessons are available in many instruments.
The College owns a property in the Wairarapa where the students in Year 9 and 10 spend 3 -4 days a year on camp. The senior students who are involved in outdoor education help the teachers run the camps. The students learn a variety of skills such as rafting, abseiling and canoeing.
Student Welfare and English Language Support
St Patrick's College gives good support and care to all its students. We aim to meet the needs of individual students so that they have an enjoyable and productive time here.
ACo-ordinator of International Students is responsible for the students' welfare. She liases with the teachers, Assistance Rector, guidance and careers counselors, and caregivers to provide a quality support for the students.
The ESOL Department provides courses at different levels. The senior students concentrate on obtaining the English Credits required to obtain entry into a New Zealand University.
