The International Aviation Academy is the commercial flight training division of the Canterbury Aero Club, who have been training airline pilots for 70 years. The Academy dedicates full time training to the Professional Pilot and is NZQA approved and NZ Civil Aviation Authority part 141 approved.

The Academy has unique advantages giving the student world class quality training. Training is based in the professional airline environment of a full International Airport and has exclusive use of its own airfield (West Melton), which is free of the control zone, only six minutes flight time away.
It has the most up to date advanced twin engine simulator, which is used for instrument training and multi crew airline training. All maintenance is carried out on site in the clubs own engineering department giving students the benefit of being able to see, first hand, areas essential to their training. Training in diverse terrain and climatic conditions gives maximum experience.30 fully equipped well maintained aircraft including a new Alpha 160 Aerobatic aircraft. Up to date modern facilities, lecture rooms basedat of one of the greatest learning environments in the country.
