LOCATION

The College is situated in a quiet, desirable residential suburb of Auckland, with high quality housing. It has spacious grounds and a lush green environment, close to beautiful beaches, parks and excellent shopping malls and only 30 minutes from Auckland’s CBD. Outstanding facilities include modern classrooms, science laboratories, heated swimming pool, media suite with full TV studio and UHF TV Channel.

STUDENT SUPPORT

The Director of International Students gets to know each student personally. International student numbers are monitored so a high quality service can be maintained, with regular reporting back to parents. School reports are issued 3 times per year and emailed or posted to parents overseas. All students have access to email and internet.

The school is divided into six house groups or families, with students from Years 9 to 13 mixing together in vertical tier groups. Each house has a dean and an assistant dean who are responsible for the general wellbeing and care of all the students in the house. Senior students demonstrate leadership by assisting as peer supporters for junior students.

LANGUAGES (ESOL) SUPPORT

Comprehensive programmes in ESOL offer special assistance at all levels.

ACCOMMODATION

Students are placed with quality homestays and matched to each homestay family. There is a dedicated Homestay Co-ordinator on-call 24/7 who regularly visits and checks all homes.

CURRICULUM

Students are offered a wide subject choice. The student-centred curriculum is a balanced blend of academic, cultural, creative, practical and recreational subjects. Advice on subjects and choices is provided individually to each student. Students are able to multi-level to accelerate learning.

A comprehensive art programme includes photography, design and painting, and an extensive cultural programme encompasses all aspects of dance, drama and music.

Media students have the opportunity to gain broadcasting experience in our modern media centre with outstanding film, television and production rooms. Our media students have won recognition in national film and video competitions.

Our popular Outdoor Education programme includes aspects of sailing, kayaking, mountain biking and rock climbing.

The college is a leader in the use of digital technology to enhance students’ learning. All students access ICT in their everyday classes. Junior students have the opportunity to use their own digital netbooks to access learning in the classroom.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Students participate in a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, rugby, hockey, cycling, tennis, badminton and golf, and many reach regional or national representative status. Students have the opportunity to be involved in a very wide range of cultural activities including music groups, dance groups, debating and glee club. Every year the college undertakes a major drama production which provides a range of theatrical experiences for students. Throughout the year there are competitions between the six school house groups.

FEES

The tuition fee for 2011 is NZ$13,500 plus NZ$500 administration fee. Fees cover tuition, textbooks and most school activities. Compulsory medical/travel insurance is NZ$456 for full 12 month cover. Extra costs will be for stationery, school uniform (Years 9 –12) and examination entry fees. Some practical subjects will require class material fees.
