Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.

The MPlanPrac degree is a two year professional planning programme accredited by the New Zealand Planning Institute, available to students with degrees from a wide range of disciplines. Students are typically drawn from fields such as environmental science, law, engineering, geography, politics, architecture, and economics.

The programme appeals to students who have a strong interest in social, economic or environmental issues, and who like to solve problems and to make things happen. MPlanPrac graduates are qualified for careers in a range of planning fields, including city and regional planning, resource management, health, conservation, and community and economic development in the public and private sectors.

As a professional qualification, the content of the courses covers the fields of planning theory, techniques, law and policy, and urban design and sustainability. A significant amount of the programme is studio based, allowing excellent integration of theory and practice.

The MPlanPrac is a limited entry programme which is generally commenced at the beginning of the first semester. Admission in Semester Two is possible, depending on availability of places.
