Auckland
Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.
The Doctor of Education is designed to meet the needs of educational practitioners. The programme addresses the nature and purpose of educational research, assists students in sharpening their research questions, and demands wide and critical reading. Discussion of key theoretical and methodological problems is fostered, and students are encouraged to engage in processes of peer review. Its purpose is to advance practitioners' capacity to question, analyse, critique and develop the profession and its practices.
The degree allows top educators to address questions and issues in educational research and professional practice at an advanced level. There are two major components to the degree: a Research Portfolio (completed in the first two years of the programme) and a Thesis (normally completed over two further years.)
The programme is organised around the study needs of full-time professionals in education and other related fields.
