    Coromandel Peninsular has beautiful golden beaches, secluded coves and untamed forests. The area is known for its historic gold mining relics and the many crafts people and artists who call it home.

    Coromandel is a popular holiday spot, being close to both Auckland and Hamilton. Thames is the regions’ service centre. Its colourful history is still alive in its pubs, shops and museums. Whitianga is a popular beach town.

    At Hot Water Beach you can create natural hot pools by digging in the sand, and the surfing is good along the east coast.

  • Sea Kayaking, Cathedral Cove

    Cathedral Cove has it all - a sea kayaking paradise full of beaches, islands and rock gardens that are just waiting to be explored. Paddle through sea caves and interact with the local marine life.

  • Karangahake Gorge

    Walkways follow the railway line through the gorge featuring historic gold mining remains in a stunning natural gorge setting, including two steel truss bridges and a 1km rail tunnel.

  • Cyclists Port Jackson

    Cycle or walk the stunning pathway across part of an old bridle path formed by early pioneers to link Stony and Fletcher Bays. The track starts in farmland, and goes through native forest and along cliffs with amazing views of Great Barrier Island.
