NZSA Advertising and Publicity Policy
This policy statement was formulated by ENZ to regulate the advertising and publicity activities of NZSA members so that the legitimate rights of prospective students, agents and institutions are protected; and to enable advertising and publicity to play a positive role in marketing New Zealand education and institutions.
The term ‘NZ Specialist Agents (NZSA)’ referred to in this document inter-alia includes only NZSA member same country branch offices, but not subagents or franchises.
The advertising and publicity rules that NZSA members must follow are:
1) All NZSA members shall follow principles of fairness, honesty and credibility in their advertising and publicity activities.
2) All advertisements released or caused to be released by an NZSA member shall not contain any false or misleading information, be true to the facts stated therein, lawful and in compliance with the New Zealand immigration rules.
3) All advertisements released or caused to be released by an NZSA member shall not contain/involve any one or more of the following:
a. Use of the names, logos or branding of New Zealand organisations such as NZTE, ENZ, INZ or any of their functionaries without their clear permission for the same.
b. Using sentences such as “Official New Zealand Education Fair”, “New Zealand Government”, etc in their promotions.
c. Using words or representations which guarantee jobs, work, or employment in New Zealand. Any references to permanent residence regulations shall be in strict compliance with the prevailing New Zealand Government Immigration Rules and, wherever practical, provide reference to the appropriate website address.
d. Undertaking and/or guaranteeing approval of visa or using words such as “Guarantee Visa”.
e. Offering discounts in fee and other incentives like gifts, free air tickets, money backs and free accommodation.
f. Listing of names of institutions that they do not represent.
4) NZSA members shall advertise only for such institutions:
a. That are appropriately registered with the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) to deliver courses to international students.
b. That the member is authorised to represent.
c. With whom they have a formal signed Agent agreement.
5) Prior permission for advertisements shall be obtained from each of the respective institutions before an NZSA member advertises those institutions or uses their logos.
6) It is recommended that the NZSA member logo be used in advertisements to build credibility as an NZSA member Agent.
7) ENZ will take complaints regarding non-compliance of these advertising and publicity rules seriously and appropriate action will be taken after thorough investigation.
